One of the hardest things I’ve had to adjust to

One of the hardest things I’ve had to adjust to when becoming a mom is the realization that time is no longer my own. Before having a baby I would get overwhelmed with how much time I had. Now it’s a mad dash to balance mom life with married life, maintain friendships, grow my business and squeeze in some self care. On some days all I accomplish is taking care of the baby and surviving. I’m learning to be patient with this new version of myself that’s been reborn and to celebrate small accomplishments. Maybe your life looks different then it used to. Show yourself some grace. You’re doing the best you can. .

Happy first Father’s Day to my love. Exactly a year ago today you found out you’d be a father—a role you were always meant to have. From the start of my pregnancy you’d go out numerous times to get me avocados, mango or grapes (even if it meant you had just returned from the grocery store) you waited on me hand and foot (no pun intended) when I broke my foot while 6 months pregnant and on the first night Vivi was born you barley slept, not because she was crying, but because you wanted to make sure that she was ok. The postpartum period hasn’t been easy but you’ve made sure that I’m ok both physically and emotionally. You get up numerous times during the night, change diapers without being asked and happily step in to care for her whenever I need a break. Seeing you grow in your role as a father is so fulfilling. Viví, Gigi, your mom and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. You’re our superhero 💕

Vivienne Violet is 13 to weeks aka 3 months. It’s hard to believe that at 13 weeks pregnant I found out I was having a girl. Pregnancy seemed to last forever, and I had no idea what to expect. Now that I’m on the other side time seems to be going by so quickly and I’m told this is only the beginning. Every morning Vivi wakes up with such wonder, discovering the world around her, looking at her older fur sister with such curiosity. It’s amazing to see her come into a state of awareness, living in each moment. Cherishing whatever is to come. It seems that both Gigi and Vivi have a lot in common (beside their names) they’re both stubborn, need their space but also want to be smothered with love and both teach their parents so much each day.
I can’t wait to see their bond grow stronger. I have a feeling they’ll be the best of friends—especially if there’s food involved 😆

When you’re feeling all the feels. Who’s been going through it since this quarantine happened? Some of us have had to celebrate birthdays alone, have virtual baby showers, change birth plans, postpone weddings and halt other important activities. .
We’ve been forced to stop our normal way of living and revaluate everything and that can bring up some serious sh*t. .
It’s ok to not do anything. To take this time to process, readjust, heal and simply be. 🌺

Have you ever been so tired that you’re beyond tired? That’s been me for the last 3 months. I’ve been trying to balance being a mother, while not losing myself which has been so difficult. Whatever I do, I do it to the fullest and that includes motherhood. I’ve quickly realized that it’s easy to wear myself thin, hindering my energy and happiness and if momma isn’t happy, no one is happy. It’s impossible to fill my family’s cup if mine is empty. I’ve had to make some adjustments to show myself some love. Sometimes that means I pick 1-2 things per day that I’ll do. I might paint my nails, take a nap, listen to a pod cast, put makeup on or meditate while I’m feeding the baby or applying moisturizer. 🌸
Today I took about 10 minutes while I was pumping to apply an eye mask, apply a facial oil I made and use a jade roller. By using a jade roller I’m stimulating the circulation on my face (hello anti aging) leaving the muscles more relaxed, brightening complexion, tightening pores, helping reduce the appearance of fine lines, and allowing skincare products to penetrate more deeply. Jade is associated with wealth and love so by taking a few moments I’m connecting with my skin. 🌺
While using the jade roller, I’m rolling back and forth, up and down and side to side, making sure to work around the facial contours and adding a little more pressure with the upwards motions. 🌸
Early on on my pregnancy I made a facial/body oil that’s made from natural ingredients. Would you like the recipe of the oil I used?

It’s incredible the things that can change in a year. Exactly one year ago I started working on Disney’s Fairytale Weddings. It was a pivotal point in my career, with months filled with travel and so much joy. As I approached the end of that first day I received a phone call from the doctors office, the news didn’t seem good. I was shocked and my faith was shaken. A few days later it was Mother’s Day. I remember going on social media and feeling a sense of sadness because I didn’t know when or if I would be a mother a part of me even feared that perhaps I didn’t deserve to be one. That day something in me changed. It broken me open so that I could then open up my heart to new possibilities. It was a turning point where I began to learn the difficult task of surrendering, something that I encountered on my conception journey, pregnancy, labor and now in motherhood. .

Happy Mother’s Day to those who yearn to be a mother but are struggling in silence. Happy Mother’s Day to those who have suffered loss. To those who have had to nurture and remother themselves. Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who doubt their capabilities as a mother. Motherhood can be overwhelming. You’ve got this. .

Today marks a decade since I moved to LA, the long

Today marks a decade since I moved to LA, the longest place I’ve lived since leaving NYC. I remember how nervous I was moving; I was leaving a career at a salon and venturing into the unknown. Shortly after moving, the relationship I was in disolved, the guy I was dating at the time suggested that I move away since he was still living here. He warned me that it would be difficult to make it especially alone. I won’t lie, I briefly thought leaving but decided against it. I wanted to prove him wrong, as well as prove to myself that I could do it. I’m a survivor and it wasn’t the first (or last) that I faced a challenge. I’m so glad I stayed. This is where I’ve been able to build my community, grew my career to unimaginable lengths, found myself and my life partner and became a mother.

For anyone who’s ever told you that you’ll fail or that you’ll never make it, know that you have the strength to achieve it all. .
